Ingredients
- 4 slices enriched whole-wheat bread, cubed
- 50 ml (1/4 cup) raisins
- 2 cored apples, coarsely chopped
- 200 ml (3/4 cup) grated cheddar cheese
- 2 eggs
- 125 ml (1/2 cup) 2% M.F. milk
- 50 ml (1/4 cup) maple syrup
- 1 ml (1/4 teaspoon) cinnamon
Preparation
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Mix bread, raisins, apples and cheddar in a lightly greased 13 x 23 cm (5 x 9-inch) glass loaf pan.
- In a bowl, beat eggs, milk, syrup and cinnamon. Stir into bread mixture.
- Bake uncovered for 40 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
- If top browns too quickly, cover with aluminum foil, but do not seal.
- Serve warm.
