Since 1954, Diabetes Québec, a non-profit association, has been helping people with diabetes, their families and the health professionals who care for them. Our mission is to support people living with diabetes to improve their well-being.

Diabetes Québec defends the interests and rights of people with diabetes to governments, health services and businesses. We also promote the advancement of diabetes research by offering scholarships and grants to students and researchers every year. Through our diabetes school, Universi-D, we offer continuing education to people with diabetes and health care professionals. For the 1.2 million people who are affected by diabetes in Québec, Diabetes Québec is THE REFERENCE in Quebec for diabetes: from diagnosis to the prevention of complications.

Diabetes Québec is also a source of accurate and reliable information, which we communicate:

  • on our website at diabete.qc.ca (1999);
  • via our InfoDiabetes Service, our free information service available by phone, email or chat, in English and French; and
  • through our quarterly magazine, Plein Soleil (1959).

Diabetes Québec promotes the advancement of diabetes knowledge with the goal of finding a cure. For more than 30 years, we have contributed to research funding by awarding scholarships and grants to students and eminent researchers. A contribution valued at nearly $6.5 million.

Diabetes Québec believes that training should inform all interventions for people with diabetes and by health professionals. That’s why we created Universi-D, our diabetes school.

By offering online training, people living with diabetes and healthcare professionals have access to an extensive curriculum. To learn more about and register for the courses offered by Universi-D, click here.

Diabetes Québec is a trustworthy and active stakeholder in:

  • ad hoc working committees set up by various levels of government; and
  • the International Diabetes Federation.

Note: As of May 30, 2022, Diabetes Québec no longer has affiliated associations. Consequently, no connection with them remains.
