Almost half of them are unaware of their condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More than 90% of diabetes care is self-care and requires management 24 hours a day, seven days a week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do you have the knowledge to make informed decisions about your health?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One in nine people will have diabetes by 2030. As a result, health care professionals are under increased pressure to provide the best possible care to people living with this disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When was the last time you updated your diabetes knowledge?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>International Diabetes Federation (IDF), Education to protect tomorrow | <a href=\"https:\/\/worlddiabetesday.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>https:\/\/worlddiabetesday.org\/<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>World Diabetes Day<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 1991, <strong>November 14<\/strong> has been World Diabetes Day (WDD). A significant date chosen in honour of the birthday of Canadian Frederick Banting, who discovered insulin with Charles Best in 1921. This day has become the largest diabetes awareness campaign worldwide. The actions taken go beyond the day of November 14 and the entire month of November is dedicated to the cause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The theme for 2022<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) has chosen the overall theme of access to diabetes care for 2021 to 2023. In 2022, the focus was on access to education with the theme: <em><strong>Education to protect the future<\/strong><\/em>. The goal is to raise awareness among the public and decision-makers about the need for access to quality diabetes education for both people living with diabetes and health professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For many years, Diabetes Qu\u00e9bec has been committed to providing diabetes information and education through various methods.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>InfoDiabetes Service<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Diabetes Qu\u00e9bec offers a free help and referral service for anyone affected by diabetes. This service provides quick access to health care professionals who can answer questions about diabetes via email, chat and phone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Website<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Over time, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.diabete.qc.ca\/en\/\"><strong>diabete.qc.ca<\/strong><\/a> website has become the reference of choice for diabetes in the French-speaking world. It contains a wealth of information presented in a comprehensible way to help people better understand diabetes and live better with the disease. Many links direct visitors to valuable resources. The information is checked and updated regularly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Educational materials and tools<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Every year, Diabetes Qu\u00e9bec enhances the educational tools created by its team of health professionals and intended for the general public. These <a href=\"https:\/\/www.diabete.qc.ca\/en\/resources\/documentation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>documents<\/strong><\/a> are available for download from the website, in English and in French.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Diabetes School<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2018, Diabetes Qu\u00e9bec set up its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universi-d.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Universi-D<\/strong><\/a> diabetes school. Universi-DI offers free video courses and self-study courses in English and French to people living with diabetes to help them manage their diabetes. It also offers accredited courses to health professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Diabetes Qu\u00e9bec&#8217;s November program<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Our team and especially our nutrition interns from the Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al have prepared a great program on our social networks.
