At the end of the year, you will receive a charitable donation receipt for the total amount of your contributions. This saves you time and money, while allowing us to reduce our administrative costs. At any time, you can cancel or modify this agreement by simply contacting Diabetes Qu\u00e9bec. Your gift is a testament to your generosity, which will reach beyond your death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are four types of bequests:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\">\n<li>Specific <a>bequest<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Residuary bequest<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Universal bequest<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contingent bequest<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are some examples of clauses in a will to illustrate the types of bequests. These examples are for information purposes only. We strongly recommend that you consult a professional, such as notary, financial advisor, tax specialist or lawyer, to structure your gift in a way that\u2019s most advantageous for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Specific bequest:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>I bequeath $25,000 to Diabetes Qu\u00e9bec.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>I bequeath to Diabetes Qu\u00e9bec 50% of my portfolio of publicly traded securities.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Residual bequest:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>I bequeath to my only son my property, my vehicle and $300,000.&nbsp; I bequeath the <u>residue<\/u> of my estate to Diabetes Qu\u00e9bec.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>I bequeath $500,000 to my three sisters and brother in equal parts, and I bequeath the <u>residue<\/u> of my estate in equal parts to Diabetes Qu\u00e9bec and the XYZ Foundation.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Universal bequest:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>I bequeath 15% of my estate to Diabetes Qu\u00e9bec.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>I bequeath all of my assets to Diabetes Qu\u00e9bec and my goddaughter Y in a proportion of 1\u22153<\/em> <em>and 2\u22153 respectively.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Contingent bequest:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>I bequeath all of my assets to my wife.&nbsp; If she dies before me or within 30 days of my death, I name Diabetes Qu\u00e9bec<\/em> as a <em><u>substitute,<\/u> as my universal legatee.<\/em><\/p>\n\n<\/div>      <\/div>\n\n    <\/div>\n  <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n    \n<section class=\"accordion\">\n  <div class=\"accordion__table\">\n    <div class=\"accordion__accordion\">\n          \n      <button class=\"accordion__header-row accordion-toggle\" id=\"accordion69e2f44b4b7c5id\" aria-controls=\"sect69e2f44b4b7c5\" aria-expanded=\"false\"\n        aria-label=\"Open or close accordion &quot;A charitable gift annuity&quot;.\">\n                  <span class=\"accordion__header__title\">A charitable gift annuity<\/span>\n                <span class=\"accordion__header__icon\" role=\"presentation\">\n          <i class=\"icon icon-arrow-down\"><\/i>\n        <\/span>\n      <\/button>\n    \n        \n      <div class=\"accordion__sub-rows wysiwyg\" id=\"sect69e2f44b4b7c5\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion69e2f44b4b7c5id\">\n        <div class=\"acf-innerblocks-container\">\n\n<p>A charitable gift annuity is only available to donors 60 to 90 years of age. In addition, the minimum amount required to set up a charitable gift annuity is $20,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A charitable gift annuity lets you to make a substantial donation to Diabetes Qu\u00e9bec, which undertakes to pay you a guaranteed income on a periodic basis until your death. &nbsp;&nbsp;The annuity income you receive is based on the total amount of the capital, the life expectancy of the beneficiary(ies) and the interest rate in effect at the time the annuity was set up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When the annuity is set up, a donation tax receipt (for a minimum of 20% of the capital) is issued in accordance with Canada Revenue Agency rules. Upon your death, any residual capital is paid out to Diabetes Qu\u00e9bec.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>      <\/div>\n\n    <\/div>\n  <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n    \n<section class=\"accordion\">\n  <div class=\"accordion__table\">\n    <div class=\"accordion__accordion\">\n          \n      <button class=\"accordion__header-row accordion-toggle\" id=\"accordion69e2f44b4bcb8id\" aria-controls=\"sect69e2f44b4bcb8\" aria-expanded=\"false\"\n        aria-label=\"Open or close accordion &quot;The gift of life insurance&quot;.\">\n                  <span class=\"accordion__header__title\">The gift of life insurance<\/span>\n                <span class=\"accordion__header__icon\" role=\"presentation\">\n          <i class=\"icon icon-arrow-down\"><\/i>\n        <\/span>\n      <\/button>\n    \n        \n      <div class=\"accordion__sub-rows wysiwyg\" id=\"sect69e2f44b4bcb8\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion69e2f44b4bcb8id\">\n        <div class=\"acf-innerblocks-container\">\n\n<p>If you wish to make a substantial donation to Diabetes Qu\u00e9bec, life insurance is an excellent choice. Here are some ways to do it:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>a) Buy a new life insurance policy<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Buy a life insurance policy in the name of Diabetes Qu\u00e9bec.&nbsp; The organization becomes the owner and beneficiary of the policy, while you pay the premiums.&nbsp; You benefit from an annual donation tax receipt for the amount of the premium paid each year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>b) Designate Diabetes Qu\u00e9bec as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy you already own<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you designate Diabetes Qu\u00e9bec as the irrevocable beneficiary of a life insurance policy, at the time of your death, your estate will benefit from a donation tax receipt for the amount of the insured capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>c) Donate an existing life insurance policy<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If your circumstances have changed and you no longer need your life insurance policy, you can use the policy to make a significant donation to Diabetes Qu\u00e9bec. &nbsp;With your consent, Diabetes Qu\u00e9bec may cash in this policy during your lifetime and make use of the proceeds. You benefit from a donation receipt for the market value of the policy when you transfer it to Diabetes Qu\u00e9bec. And, while you are paying the premiums on the policy you\u2019ve transferred, you will also get an annual tax receipt for the premium amount paid each year.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>      <\/div>\n\n    <\/div>\n  <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n    \n<section class=\"accordion\">\n  <div class=\"accordion__table\">\n    <div class=\"accordion__accordion\">\n          \n      <button class=\"accordion__header-row accordion-toggle\" id=\"accordion69e2f44b56ddaid\" aria-controls=\"sect69e2f44b56dda\" aria-expanded=\"false\"\n        aria-label=\"Open or close accordion &quot;A donation of listed securities&quot;.\">\n                  <span class=\"accordion__header__title\">A donation of listed securities<\/span>\n                <span class=\"accordion__header__icon\" role=\"presentation\">\n          <i class=\"icon icon-arrow-down\"><\/i>\n        <\/span>\n      <\/button>\n    \n        \n      <div class=\"accordion__sub-rows wysiwyg\" id=\"sect69e2f44b56dda\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion69e2f44b56ddaid\">\n        <div class=\"acf-innerblocks-container\">\n\n<p>Donating publicly traded securities (stocks, mutual funds, bonds or other securities listed on a Canadian, U.S. or international stock exchange) lets you give to Diabetes Qu\u00e9bec at little cost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, you must be sure to <strong>transfer<\/strong> the securities, not sell them, so that Diabetes Qu\u00e9bec can receive the proceeds.&nbsp; By transferring securities directly to Diabetes Qu\u00e9bec, any eventual capital gains will not be taxed in your hands, which will reduce the cost of your donation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The amount of the donation that will appear on your official charitable donation receipt will be the market value of the securities at the close of the business day on the date on which your publicly traded securities were transferred.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>      <\/div>\n\n    <\/div>\n  <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n<\/div> \n  <\/section>\n  ","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Make a donation to support Diabetes Qu\u00e9bec in its fight againt diabetes.
