You would like to organize an activity to raise funds for Diabetes Quebec?

You would like to organize an activity to raise funds for Diabetes Quebec?

No matter what its size, your project is important to us. By doing this, you enable us to fulfil our mission and come to the assistance of more than 600,000 Quebecers who suffer from diabetes.

There are several types of activities from which to choose:

  • Benefit suppers, galas
  • Concerts, exhibitions, vernissages
  • Fundraising in the workplace (theme activities, jeans days, etc.), in your community, in your club, as a family
  • Tournaments and sporting events (golf, bowling, walking, races, skiing, etc.)
  • Sales (cooked meals, flowers, promotional items, etc.)

Choose the one that suits your taste, your schedule, your relationships, your experience and, above all, the time that you can devote to it.

Steps to follow:

  1. Choose the type of activity you want to carry out, set the goals, evaluate the time needed to make it a success and prepare a short synopsis.
  2. Contact Diabetes Quebec, we will talk about your project together, we are here to support you.
  3. Create an organizing committee.
  4. Make a reasonable strategic plan and draw up a realistic schedule.
  5. Get informed about other fundraising activities in your region and choose a date on which your activity will draw all the attention you want.
  6. Prepare a realistic budget.
  7. Identify your needs in human resources (volunteers, solicitors, spokesperson if necessary) and in materials.
  8. Look for sponsors, if needed.
  9. Prepare a Solicitation Mandate from Diabetes Quebec that the solicitors (if any) must sign.
  10. Request a permit from the authorities concerned (if there is a draw and/or alcohol).
  11. Promote your activity as early as possible; good promotion will ensure that you have high participation.
  12. Ensure that the funds are sent to Diabetes Quebec within a reasonable time (60 days) after the end of the activity.
  13. Diabetes Quebec will issue the receipts for tax purposes for all eligible donations of $10 or more, in accordance with the policies of the Canada Revenue Agency. For more information, please refer to the Income Tax Act (Revenue Canada). We ask that you communicate with us (on the subject of donation eligibility) before making a commitment to the participants.
  14. Thank your participants and let them know the date of the next activity.
